Speaker

We are looking for a volunteer Speaker who stays in or around Greater Glasgow to give talks to groups and organisations across the city, spreading the word about the work that we do, and the ways in which the public can support us. We are looking to expand our network of wonderful speakers and will also be recruiting in other parts of Scotland.

• Responding to requests for talks from local groups, including confirming a suitable date and time
• Using a set suite of PowerPoint slides to create a talk appropriate to your geographical area
• Delivering talks of approximately 40 minutes in length, with opportunity for questions afterward
• If comfortable doing so, delivering talks via Teams or Zoom if groups request this
• Informing groups of our current campaigns and membership options
• Operating within our Volunteer Charter, policies, procedures, and guidelines
• As part of your role, you will need to log all the hours you volunteer through Assemble, your volunteering website, either on the desktop version or the mobile app
• Work within the risk assessment provided by your volunteer manager

• Experience of public speaking and ability to present, inspire and engage a variety of audiences
• Genuine interest in woodlands and conservation
• Ability to handle a range of audience members, including those that may be more challenging
• Ability to use a digital projector and Microsoft PowerPoint
• Willingness to research local groups in your area who may be interested in a talk and make connections with them
• A sensible regard for health and safety
