About the Vacancy
This role will be tasked with co-designing and delivering the aims and objectives of the Community Food strand of the project, focused on increasing awareness, education and practical skills among Glaswegians relating to the connections between food, the climate and community cohesion. The post will work closely with the Community Food Leadand our partner organisation Central West Integration Network on the following initiatives:
- Providing free workshops, events and peer exchanges relating to climate change, food growing and preparation skills, particularly between different cultural groups across Glasgow
- Campaigning around the existence of multicultural food practices in Glasgow and the value they bring to the local food system
About the Salary
pro-rata for 21 hours a week (60% of full-time) amounting to £19,503
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Community Food Lead and Central West Integration
Network to co-design & co-ordinate a programme of inclusive activities for the local
community, such as trainings on food & climate-related topics, community meals,
and How to Grow workshops - Report on project activity, supported by the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer,
incorporating community feedback into ongoing programme development - Manage a small budget, with support from the Finance Manager
- Promote project activity, with support from the team, using platforms such as
eventbrite & canva - Support the expansion of Central West Integration Network’s multi-cultural food
hub, which includes an in-house pantry and allotment site - Support the development and delivery of a multi-year public communications
campaign around the values of culturally significant foods in Glasgow - Co-develop the volunteer policy and framework for CWIN’s Multicultural Food Hub
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and other organisational activities to
support the implementation of the project
Key Competencies
Essential:
- A passion for and understanding of food, climate and
social justice and how these intersect - Experience working with diverse communities with a
range of needs and what it means to take a dignity in
practice approach - Experience of partnership working
- Experience working in a community development role
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 & general administrative
skills - Self-starter, good time management, excellent
planning and organisational skills - Effective written & verbal communication skills
- Experience working with volunteers
- Excellent group facilitation skills
- Openness to working flexibly & dynamically
depending on needs of the project and team - Enthusiasm for collaborative team working
Desirable:
- Experience in the community
food and / or food growing
sector, e.g. community meals,
pantries, community gardens
etc. - Budget management
- Experience of applying for grants
