About the vacancy

    Our online communities connect people affected by bowel cancer, enabling them to give and receive support on a number of topics. As a volunteer moderator, you’ll use your experience and knowledge to make our forum a safe and welcoming place.
    We welcome applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds and communities, including volunteers who speak a second language.

Key Responsibilities

    • Using your experience of bowel cancer to support others, join in discussions and signpost members to appropriate sources of support.
    • Ensuring our forum is welcoming to all and that members follow our community rules.
    • Sharing ideas and concerns with staff and fellow moderators.
    • Attending regular moderator catchups with staff and other volunteer moderator.

Key Competencies

    • Experience of using online communities.
    • Able to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
    • Able to provide appropriate support and to ask for help when needed.
    • Access to your own computer or mobile device and confidence in using it to access online communities.

Desired Qualifications

    The volunteer for this role must have experience of bowel cancer, either as a patient, or as a close friend or family member of a patient.
