    SCVO is the membership organisation for the voluntary sector in Scotland and our mission is to champion the role of voluntary sector organisations in building a flourishing society and support them to do work that has a positive impact.

About the vacancy

    This 6-month, fixed-term post will support our Communications and Marketing team during a period of transition. The small and busy team needs an experienced digital marketer to provide extra capacity while they create and automate new processes and create new content to support our new marketing strategy.

    You will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Communications and Marketing Officers and Graphic Designer to support the delivery of SCVO’s communications and marketing needs in-house. This involves supporting colleagues from across the organisation to help tell SCVO’s story and the story of the voluntary sector.

    You will need to demonstrate strong digital marketing skills and experience, including creative multi-media content generation.

Key Responsibilities

    - Work with the broader Communications and Marketing team to support the delivery of the marketing strategy and work plan
    - Develop and deliver multi-channel marketing communications to drive SCVO membership, promote our services and showcase the impact of the voluntary sector on Scottish people and communities. Specific areas of focus include member recruitment and retention, policy and public affairs communications and campaigning, corporate communications and marketing SCVO services
    - Create and deliver content that establish SCVO digital and social channels as ‘go-to’ destinations for our members, the sector and our stakeholders
    - Provide support to colleagues across SCVO to ensure consistent and effective marketing of our products and services
    - Apply creativity to translate a wide range of complex information into more accessible copy and formats – with a particular focus on web and social content, briefings, press releases and other copy for journalists/the media, marketing materials, and presentations/speeches.

Key Competencies

    Essential
    - Communications or Marketing degree or equivalent experience
    - Recent experience in a similar role
    - Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    - Strong integrated digital marketing and communications campaigns experience including content writing (web, email and social), video asset production, social media planning and delivery, email marketing and paid ads
    - Proficient in the use of content management systems and web and social media analytics tools
    - Excellent personal planning and project management skills, with an ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
    - A confident and collaborative approach
    - An understanding of the role and potential of Scotland’s voluntary sector, and an appreciation of the challenges and issues facing the sector
    - Commitment to SCVO’s service charter
    - Ability to uphold our values and principles, contributing to an inclusive working environment, striving for environmental sustainability.

    Desirable
    - Knowledge and understanding of the range of SCVO’s activities
    - Experience of working in or an understanding of the Scottish voluntary sector
    - Experience of using desktop publishing software, customer relationship management software and email automation systems
    - Knowledge of Scottish politics, the Scottish Parliament, local and national decision-making process and influencing politicians and civil servants
