About the organisation
- As the governing body for basketball, we are passionate about increasing the positive experiences for all participating in basketball. Sport has the ability to impact the lives of those involved, it can enhance wellbeing and provides valuable skills for life. About the vacancy
- To provide a financial perspective on the strategic direction of the organisation. To maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial performance, systems and processes on behalf of the Executive Board. This role is a strategic level role, with day-to-day finances managed by the staff team and outsourced finance support, which includes payroll and management support.
Key Responsibilities
- • Working with the Head of Operations to monitor financial performance and system compliance.
• Attending Board meetings and AGM/EGMs
• Presenting quarterly management accounts to the Board (to be prepared by Head of Operations)
• Presenting annual accounts to the Board and the membership (to be prepared by Head of Operations)
• To maintain an ongoing understanding and overview of the annual budget and long-term financial plan of basketballscotland
• To chair the Finance Sub-Committee of the Board
• To provide advice, when required, to the Board on specific finance related issues
• To provide operational support and guidance, when requested, to the professional staff responsible for finances
Key Competencies
- • Has the ability to maintain a strategic overview of finances without direct involvement in the operational management of the finances.
• Is able to present complex financial information in a concise, understandable manner. • Can analyse and recommend improvements to financial systems.
• Is a qualified accountant and/or has relevant professional experience.
• Has a positive, solution focussed outlook.
• Enjoys working as part of a team.
