About the organisation

Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency. We support businesses by helping them to innovate, scale and transform our country’s economy. Everyone here is critical to our mission. For you, as an experienced Pension Manager who’s looking to play a pivotal role with a forward-thinking organisation, this is an opportunity to contribute to real change.

About the vacancy

As a Specialist in our Investment Solutions Team, you’ll make an impact where Scotland’s economic and investment priorities meet private and public capital. This is an opportunity that will give you unrivalled access to leading projects, companies and finance providers that are looking to invest in Scotland.

Expect your commercial skills and investment or funding capabilities to be tested and extended, as you develop innovative investment solutions. The collaborations you’ll be involved in will drive company growth and bring constrained private sector capital into our key mission areas.

Key Responsibilities

    ● Addressing complex structural investment challenges – either through direct delivery of solutions, or by influencing others to deliver where no market solution currently exists.
    ● Constructing and presenting solid business cases for investment products or approaches, clearly laying out the financial and economic risks and rewards at each stage of the process.
    ● Gathering and facilitating information sharing by developing and building networks and relationships with colleagues across SE, as well as with private and public sector funders.
    ● Keeping your Team Leader fully informed of the progress of each opportunity – escalating matters where needed, together with sufficiently detailed supporting information.

Key Competencies

    ● A good understanding of the financing challenges facing companies ambitious to scale – particularly in nascent markets.
    ● Financial literacy, preferably with experience of identifying risk, structuring and negotiating commercial funding, and suggesting and implementing new funding solutions.
    ● Sound knowledge (or an ability to acquire this) of the nuances of economic development.
    ● Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, especially when detailing complex challenges and propositions – and especially, the potential risks involved.
    ● Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills – vital for managing and prioritising a demanding workload while maintaining a flexible approach.

Desired Qualifications

Education to SCQF Level 9, or equivalent experience in accountancy, banking, law or investment.
