About the Vacancy

  • This role will be tasked with co-designing and delivering the aims and objectives of the Fair Food for All strand of the project, focused on bridging the gap between local community food practices and emergency food aid provision. The post will work closely with the Fair Food for All Project Lead and our partner organisation Glasgow Eco Trust on the following initiatives:
  • Working in collaboration with pantries, community kitchens, larders and foodbanks to embed locally grown food into their services, decreasing the reliance on supermarket surplus
  • Promote dignity in food aid provision through the incorporation of more culturally-significant food choices, ideally grown in and around Glasgow

About the Salary

pro-rata for 21 hours a week (60% of full-time) amounting to £19,503

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Fair Food for All Lead and Glasgow Eco Trust to co
    design & co-ordinate a programme of inclusive activities for the local community,
    such as trainings on food & climate-related topics, community meals, and How to
    Grow workshops
  • Report on project activity, supported by the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer,
    incorporating community feedback into ongoing programme development
    Manage a small budget, with support from the Finance Manager
  • Promote project activity, with support from the team, using platforms such as
    eventbrite & canva
  • Lead on developing an existing community meal group into a public diner model
  • Co-ordinate the development of a food growing site with the Glasgow Eco Trust

Essential:

  • A passion for and understanding of food, climate and
    social justice and how these intersect
  • Experience working with diverse communities with a
    range of needs and what it means to take a dignity in
    practice approach
  • Experience of partnership working
  • Experience working in a community development role
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 & general administrative
    skills
  • Self-starter, good time management, excellent
    planning and organisational skills
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Excellent group facilitation skills
  • Openness to working flexibly & dynamically
    depending on needs of the project and team
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative team working

Desirable:

  • Experience in the community
    food and / or food growing
    sector, e.g. community meals,
    pantries, community gardens
    etc.
  • Budget management
  • Experience of applying for grants
